ACTIVITY ONE - THE NATURAL CONFECTIONARY COMPANY

1. What symbols has the company used to represent the brand? Does the brand use any Australian symbols or icons in their design?
When looking at the Natural Confectionary logo, there appears to be no images. Rather it is made up of text and different shaped boxes surrounding the text. The main colours that have been used in the brand are green and gold, and these colours could be representing the fact that they are Australian made and owned.
2. What colours have the company used in the brand?
The Natural confectionary brand consists of two main colours - those being a pale yellow and a dark blue/green. Around the edges of the brand, is what appears to be a lighter shade of the main dark blue/green colour. The logo also includes red, a very minuscule amount of dark green, and black and white text.
3. What sort of message do you think the colours are trying to convey?
When looking at the logo, the colours seem to be a bit placid, rather than very colourful. Perhaps if the logo was full of bright, fun colours - it would convey the idea of high sugar content. So I would say thats why they have chosen those colours. Also, as I mentioned before, the green and gold could have been chosen to represent Australian made and owned.
4. What style of typography has the company used (serif, sans serif, italic, bold) and what does this say about the brand?
The words 'The Natural' have been created using a big, bold san serif font. This has probably been done to stand out and capture the viewers attention. Placing the idea in the viewers mind of a natural, healthy product. The type of font used, looks as though it would appeal to both adults and children, as it is sort of a 'fun' font. Once the viewers attention has been captured they move on to read the words 'Confectionary Company' this is in a much smaller size, and colour, but the font remains the same. Below that are the words 'No Artificial colours, No Artificial flavours'. These words are in a smaller size again, however this time the font has changed to a serif font. To me, the serif font seems to convey a sense of 'seriousness' - so this idea is needed when selling this item with no sugar. I dont think that if those words were written in a colourful, fun, bubbly text, the message would be as effective.
